Let’s face it Republicans and conservatives (which includes Libertarians) get a bad wrap. This has mainly to do with a misconception about what “conservative” means, which is just reinforced the media in this country that is by and large liberal. Conservative in politics does not mean an uptight, judgmental, bible thumper who wishes to constantly rain on your parade. This is of course how liberals want you to think. In fact, when you think about it, I run across far more uptight, sensitive liberals than conservatives.
Regardless, the terms conservative and liberal in politics refer to economics and spending, not how tolerant somebody is. Now, while there is such thing as social conservatives and liberals, this doesn’t mean one is intolerant and the other not. It simply means one holds closer to traditions than the other. From my experience, even the most hard core conservatives will let you voice your opinion whereas we constantly see liberals and progressives (an old communist term by the way) disrupt conservative speakers, throw pies, protest, shout people down and on and on and on. It is truly embarrassing.
Equally embarrassing is how poorly conservatives, especially the Bush administration, are at countering false charges and blatant exaggerations. Conservatives have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. We support, businesses, equal rights, personal freedoms and responsibilities, less governmental control, strong defense, and a strong family. We do not hide behind activist judges to circumvent the system, neither is it conservative policy to exploit black people, illegals, prisoners, women, gays, other minorities, and yes believe it or not… dead people for votes. Ours was the party that fought to keep the union together thus freeing the slaves,  the party that advocated for and defeated communism, the party that started out as the party of the pro-business and industry North.  Sadly, we have failed in many regards to defend ourselves from political attacks. We have let ourselves be mischaracterized as both filthy rich yet rednecks, as painfully dumb yet cunningly evil, as warmongers yet too heartless to help Darfur, politcally savvy yet utterly incompetent, we support Israel yet dems get the Jewish vote…

We have an alleged gay congressman and he resigns only to become a long-lasting punch line.

Liberals have lying, cheating, drug dealing, prostitute using politicians yet they are lionized and/or deemed as hapless targets of the evil “neo-cons”.

Why is this? It’s all about who is better at propaganda. A topic I am familiar with if anybody has read my blog I have dealing with Soviet Propaganda and active measures taken against the USA:

Allow me to explain

Conservatives have a majority in talk radio, some parts of Foxnews, a couple of newspapers: Washington Times and WSJ, and a few magazines such as National Review, Newsmax and The Weekly Standard. What are we up against?

Liberals have: The public school system, university professors, journalists, lawyers, unionists, most major newspapers such as NYT, Wash. Post, Boston Globe, Balt. Sun, tribune, LA Times, network and cable news such as CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, NPR, Hollywood actors/activists, Hollywood films,  Pop culture, the music industry, daytime talk show hosts, late night talk show hosts, TV programs and don’t even get me started on magazines and oh yes… the entire continent of Europe.

These are all outlets that influence and/or inform the American population. We are greatly outnumbered. The only solution is start fighting back with facts and nothing but facts. To not do so would be stooping to the level of the daily kos’, the Huffington Posts and the Michael Moores.
